Modern and contemporary homes usually feature unique and stylish features. These features are also found in traditional style homes, in a much more conservative style. An example of one of these features is the floating staircase. Floating stairs or cantilevered stairs, are independent and give the illusion of floating. These stairs are made of steel and wood. Many designs feature wooden steps and iron railing for satefy.
The traditional gaps usually seen between stairs on traditional staircases are absent on floating stairs. While the steps seem fragile, the steel foundation makes for a very sturdy fixture. In some cases, the wooden stairs appear to be a continuation of the walls. In other cases, the steps seem to be supported by an external wall fixture. Either way, floating stairs are functionally, sturdy and visually appealing.
