Glass
While glass dining room tables are visually appealing, the maintenance and upkeep is not as favorable. When you have a glass dining room table, some of your concerns may be: keeping the glass clean and free of fingerprints, fear breaking the glass and difficulty moving the table. Yes, glass dining room tables are very modern and stylish, but they may not be practical dining options for all homes. For instance, if your dining room is used regularly by smaller children, this may not be the best option for your home.
Acrylic
Acrylic dining room tables offer many of the same physical features as glass tables. However, acrylic tables are not as “delicate” as glass tables. If decorating in a modern or contemporary style, an acrylic dining room table may work if the glass dining room table is out of the question. Acrylic tables can be quite pricey. If this is the style you want be prepared to spend more than you would on a wooden dining room table.
