Dining Room Decorating Ideas Part 1: Formal Dining Room Decor
Many people only use the actual dining room in their homes for entertaining family and friends. With that being said, the dining room is one room in the home that should be properly decorated. With the holidays just behind us, now is the perfect time to start planning or working to decorate your dining room for next year’s holiday season!
Before starting to decorate your dining room, you should first decide a look or style. Are you looking for something formal, simplistic or traditional? The possibilities are endless. Let’s look at some ideas for decorating a dining room.
Formal Dining Room Decorating
Formal dining rooms scream elegance. Tassels, rich colors and elegant furniture can all work together to create a contemporary formal dining room. Here are a few examples of contemporary formal dining rooms to get your creative juices flowing:
The dining room above designed by interior designer Ashley Campbell is a great example of an elegant formal dining room. The designer opted to use mix match dining room chairs which is not only a popular trend in home decor but also is a great way to add character to your space.
If you are working with a smaller space, consider using smaller dining room furniture. The space above strayed from the traditional rectangular dining room table set and went with a smaller round dining room table set. The designer paired this modern table set with a decorative area rug, patterned window treatments, a floral centerpiece and a formal chandelier to create a small yet stylish dining area.
Another great example of mix match seating, this dining room is decorated in modern vintage style. My absolute favorite thing about the room is the tufted bench. From the rich color to the texture to the design, this piece is a winner! The designer used this piece of bold colored furniture to brighten up a room that is otherwise very neutral.
