Chic Contemporary Bathroom Decor

contemporary bathroom

contemporary bathroom source

This delectable bathroom is unique in the fact that it is crisp and contemporary, but it still manages to maintain a warm and inviting atmosphere. The traditional contemporary color palette of black and white is eschewed for a softer color combination of off white and dark gray. The unexpected turquoise hue of the chair’s upholstery provides a pop of color without competing for attention in the space.

The chrome accessories that are one of the hallmarks of contemporary design can be seen in the flower vases and the mirror frame. Even though the dresser is a nontraditional shade of off white, its gleaming lacquer veneer serves to highlight the dresser’s strong horizontal lines. The deep and wide drawers provide plenty of practical space to tuck away all of the necessary bathroom provisions.

The large size of the mirror is perfect for reflecting the natural light that enters the bedroom, which contributes to ensuring the bathroom remains light and airy, even with the use of the darker shades of gray. The accessories in this bathroom are fairly subtle, but each item, from the unique architecture of the chair to the patterned marble tile in the shower to the oval shape of the drawer pulls, blends together to create visual interest.

Ideas for Creating a Safe and Stylish Kids Bathroom

kids bathroom safety

When decorating kids’ bathrooms, the focus is usually on style as well as design.  As with their bedrooms, a kid’s bathroom should be a comfortable space for your children.  We have pulled together a few tips to assist with the process of decorating kids bathrooms.

Step Stools

kids bathroom safety One of the biggest issues for children in bathrooms is access to various features.  Bathroom counters, bathtubs and other accessories are usually placed out the child’s reach.  If you would like to give your child some freedom to complete certain tasks in the bathroom independently, you will have to place items in the bathrooms to assist.  A great example of this is the stepstool.  Placing a step stool in front of the bathroom counter will give your child the freedom to wash their hands, brush their teeth and provide other personal grooming tasks independently.

Bathroom Vanity and Countertop

Rugs and Rails

If the idea of releasing your child to grooming independently, perhaps updating your bathroom for safety will provide a level of comfort.  As parents, we will always worry about our children and the many possibilities.  However, if there are options to provide a better or safer environment for our child, why avoid it?  What are some other safety measures you have considered for your child’s bathroom?
