Modern Shower Stalls: Doorless showers

Modern shower stalls are turning from the traditional four wall design.  While some modern walk in showers are surrounding partially by glass, the doorless shower is becoming more and more popular.  These showers, also referred to as curbless showers, are ideal for moderate to large bathrooms.  When designing a shower with no walls, there has to be adequate space to prevent water from flowing or “splashing” into other areas of the bathroom

When designing a doorless showers, consider two things, the placement of the showerhead and the drainage.  Some bathrooms that feature this style of shower has a floor that is designed to encourage water into the drainage area.  Other bathrooms use accessories, such as mats, to disquise the drain which may be oddly placed.

If you like the opennesss of a doorless shower but the potential “mess” is intimidating, consider a glass shower enclosure.  These style showers can provide a very similar effect.
