Creativity at it’s best: Small Kitchen Design

One of the most important factors in remodeling an area is the amount of space. Small kitchen design is full of possibilities. As with other kitchen remodel jobs, small kitchen design requires research and creativity.
Have you ever walked into someone’s home and find yourself amazed by an off the wall design of the home? Updating a small kitchen requires this type of creativity. When working with a small space, it is important to make the best of each inch. There are a few things that decorators should consider when approaching small kitchen design.
Strategize
Before a design can be created, the designer has to have a clear understanding of the purpose or use of the space. When designing a kitchen, we should first consider the tasks that will take place in the kitchen. Is it likely that guests will be entertained? Will there be baking and such? Once there is a clear understanding of the functional expectations, it is easier to create a design plan.

Making the best use of space in a small kitchen may require smaller appliances. There are several ways to save and create space in the kitchen by considering space saving appliances. Instead of a traditional stove and oven, opt for a counter top stove and a stackable oven and microwave. Some appliances, like refrigerators, are sold in smaller sizes. It is amazing the amount of space that can be saved by selecting smaller kitchen appliances.
Consider the Color
Wall paint color can make a space appear smaller or larger. When designing a small kitchen, remember to use a neutral or lighter color. A neutral or lighter wall color will create the illusion of a larger space. If a dark or warm color is strongly desired, it is best these colors are used on an accent wall only.
There are times that we have to make the best of what we have. A small kitchen does not have to be any less fabulous than a larger kitchen. Make careful calculated design decisions and you will find the perfect small kitchen design for your home.

Modern Kitchen Design| The Modern Kitchen Cabinet

January 15, 2011 By: Category: Kitchen and Dining Room

Upgrading to modern kitchen design is not as complicated as many assume. As with other styles of modern home décor, a modern kitchen is very clean and simple. This style of décor is built around open space, clean lines and futuristic fixtures.
The kitchen is a very functional area. It is used for cooking, baking and at times entertaining. There are pieces of kitchen furniture that are required in any kitchen. Some of these are kitchen cabinets, kitchen faucets and adequate counter space. When upgrading to modern décor, these pieces would be incorporated but the options would differ from traditional kitchen furniture.
Modern kitchen cabinets are used to store pots and pans and create space. Modern cabinets take storage and aesthetics a step further with sliding doors and recessed cabinets. While these styles offer plenty of space for storage, they are also designed to provide a more appealing look. Often these styles are crafted in a manner in which they do not appear to be kitchen cabinets. Modern kitchen cabinets are also versatile in regard to material. Traditional cabinets are made of wood and come in basic colors like brown, black and white. Modern cabinets are made of a variety of materials such as plastic and metal. The shiny and sleek looks provided by these cabinets instantly enhance the visual appeal of the kitchen.
Creating a modern kitchen design for your next remodeling job can be a very exciting time. A great place to start in this journey is kitchen cabinets. Click here to read more about the creation and design of custom and modern kitchen cabinets.

Bedrooms with hardwood floors are welcome a nice fluffy area rug.  One disadvantage to hardwood flooring in bedrooms is cold feet in the cooler months.  Adding an area rug to your bedroom will give the comfort of warm feet and the appeal of classic hardwood flooring.

Bedrooms with minimal décor are instantly made over when a colorful shag rug is added to the room.  Shag rugs are known for their swanky style and high level of comfort.

Brown Copper Blend Glass Tile

The kitchen is a highly functional area in many homes. Although the kitchen is mainly used to cooking and preparing meals for the family, it does not have to be any less beautiful than other areas of the home. One way to enhance kitchen décor is adding kitchen backsplash.
Using a backsplash in a kitchen can benefit homeowners in a couple of ways. First, the backsplash protects walls from grease and other harmful substances as meals are prepared. Second, many kitchen backsplash designs are very attractive and instantly add style to any room. Kitchen backsplash tile is available in several materials. One popular type of tile used to create backsplash is glass tile.
A glass tile backsplash offers many advantages. As mentioned earlier, a backsplash protects kitchen walls from grease and other materials that may splash or pop as foods are prepared. With that, it is important that the material used to create the backsplash can be cleaned and maintained with ease. Glass backsplash tile is very easy to maintain. It is not very difficult to clean this type of tile. Glass tile is also very versatile in regard to décor. It can be used with several styles of home décor.
When selecting tile for your kitchen backsplash, consider the design to be used when installing kitchen backsplash. If the kitchen backsplash will feature an elaborate design, make sure the tile selected is rather conservative. Creating a backsplash from metal tile or glass tile are both great options if creating a kitchen backsplash that features and elaborate design.
